Springfield-Armory has a wide selection of XD pistols in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP in small, medium and large versions. Like the Glock and M&P, these are polymer-framed, striker-fired handguns and range in price from $400 to $600. The optics-ready version of the XD Elite pushes the price just a shade over $700, which is lower than some of Glock's base models. Walther's PPQ pistol with its interchangeable backstrap is slightly more ergonomic than the Glock, and the trigger is very similar. It also has a two-handed slide lock and a reversible magazine well. Walther offers both four and five inch barrel models. Each PPQ is similar in size and weight to similar Glock, XD, or M&P models. Suggested retail prices are not much lower than Glock prices, but store prices are. Walther also offers a more expensive steel frame version called the Q4. Check availability here.
One of the Glock-like pistols is the CZ-USA P-10. Like all CZ-USA firearms, P-10s are very reliable, great guns. But what really sets the P320 apart is that the fire control unit can be rotated between frames for easy slide length and cartridge conversion. P320s sell for about $100 less than comparable Glocks. One of the closest alternatives to the Glock 19 is the CZ P10c. The P10c from CZ is a striker-fired compact handgun with a 15-round capacity. Like the Glock MOS system, they offer traditional and optic ready models, and have several options for red dot optics. One of my favorite styling features of the P10c is the ergonomic feel of the slide and frame.
The Glock 19 and P10c are nearly identical in size, but the different palm swells and chamfers make it feel smaller on the slide than the larger Glock's ergonomics. Similar dimensions to the Glock 19 also mean a degree of compatibility with the holster. This is not to say that every Glock 19 holster will fit a CZ P10c, but most will. The trigger is a crisp clean 5kg trigger with a very positive recoil that makes it very easy to fire. If you haven't checked out the CZ style assault rifles, I highly recommend checking them out as they are a great value.

SIG's XCompact is a great alternative to the Glock 19 based on its overall size. SIG has taken the modular fire control unit and built a compact 15-round handgun that is completely controllable and shorter overall than the Glock 19. Perhaps the XCompact my favorite summer carry next to its smaller brother, the P365. Several compact magwell options are available to make reloading easier.
The combination of the XCompact and the Fire Control Unit allows you to have a small, compact piece of carry for the summer, but if you want to convert to a compensation range, it only takes a few minutes with a new barrel and frame. Therefore, several configurations can be achieved with one linear component, so the P320 series offers great flexibility. If you haven't purchased an XCompact yet, I highly recommend checking out your local store.
